As I was flicking through Cycling Plus the other day I saw an advert for the Deloitte Ride Across Britain which, at some point late last year, I decided would be a good idea to sign up for, and it kind of struck me that it’s actually quite a big deal. It’s Lands End to John O’Groats in 9 days. That’s nearly 1,000 miles of cycling, 56,000 ft of climbing, as well as the longest time i’ve ever spent apart from my family, and therefore probably isn’t something i’m ever likely to be doing on a regular basis.
I thought, for my own amusement if not anyone elses, that it might be a good idea to keep a record of the training, planning, agony, ecstasy, ups and downs (literally) and any slightly related random thoughts that occur between now and September 14th when hopefully i find myself the furthest north I have ever been. So, here goes.
